About Us

Welcome to Langelos Marble Art & Design, where tradition meets innovation in the serene mountains of Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. Our studio, nestled in a quiet, rural area, is surrounded by the beauty of nature—wild monkeys, boars, and foxes occasionally visit, while clean air and peaceful surroundings offer the perfect environment for artistic inspiration.

My name is Ranjirou, a sculptor who grew up in a family of stone carvers. From a young age, I was surrounded by the art of stone sculpture, a craft passed down through generations. While the need for large stone carvings has diminished due to changes in modern life, I have shifted my focus to creating intricate, smaller marble reliefs. These are not only easier to handle but also reflect the depth and detail that marble allows, connecting the ancient art form with contemporary needs.

The unique rural setting of my studio provides a tranquil space where I can focus on each piece, from design to execution. The sound of stone being carved is loud, making this remote area ideal for such work, far from the busyness of cities.

I also draw inspiration from my background in sports, where mental concentration was key to my success. In high school, I won national championships, and by age 20, I had become a world champion. These experiences, deeply rooted in the philosophy of “Zen,” influence my artistic process, allowing me to channel focus and precision into each sculpture.

In Japan, 2D art is more common, but I have always been drawn to three-dimensional forms. This is why marble reliefs—often considered 2.5D—feel like a natural expression for me. Every piece I create represents a balance between the simplicity of nature and the complexity of human expression, turning raw marble into a story carved in stone.

At Langelos Marble Art & Design, each sculpture is crafted with care, blending tradition, personal history, and artistic vision. I invite you to explore my work, where small reliefs convey grand expressions, one masterpiece at a time.
